It is not often that articles are published that are dedicated to the adaptation processes of society to technological development in a multi-layered and profound way. Peter Diekmann(@derpeder) has recently written such an article entitled “What steam engines have to do with digitalization and why we need a new age of enlightenment” in two parts(Part…
The World Economic Forum 2016 coined the term “4th Industrial Revolution”, especially in the media. Many recognized or self-proclaimed experts have adopted this terminology without further evaluation. But it couldn’t be more misleading. Here’s why.
The redefinition of economic work is one of the biggest issues of our time. Even if it is not yet so obvious. So much depends for people on how work is defined, measured, remunerated and organized in the future. As a society, we are undoubtedly once again at the beginning of a paradigm shift. In…
In my article “Unconditional revolution, digital basic income“, I briefly touched on an issue that I am repeatedly asked about. And triggered numerous discussions: replacing profit taxes with loss taxes for companies. A thought experiment.
The Swiss initiative for an unconditional basic income was rejected by the people, which was to be expected. The concerns about a radical change to the system are too great and all sorts of frippery was interpreted into the banal initiative text from all sides. Those that are obvious (“Digital is becoming increasingly important”), those that are mainly created for…
I notice time and again that dealings with competitors are restrained and sometimes acrimonious. That’s a shame. Because you can learn a lot from dealing openly with competitors. Especially about yourself.
I have been following the debate on the abolition of cash for a relatively long time and the more I read about it, the more I am confused by the opinions of even seasoned economists. Apparently, in order to maintain a complex, fragile and costly system, everything ideological is being thrown into the balance. It’s…
In conversations over the last few weeks, I have repeatedly noticed that many decision-makers have recently started talking about disruption. In doing so, they are mixing digital transformation, disruptive business models, Apple and, since the end of March, Tesla into a uniform mishmash. And underpinning quotes from entrepreneurs with figures and pseudo-studies that are not…
